I explore industrial technology in glassmaking, and my latest work uses additional digital technology and traditional casting processes in combination with the water-jet process. Sourcing inspiration from the coastal city in which I live, my daily walks on the city shoreline provide time to observe the sweeping skies, the variable seas, and vivid sunsets, all of which inform my work.
Vanessa Cutler has specialized in using industrial technology - particularly abrasive water-jet cutting – for 20 years. She has exhibited her work around the world and presented at numerous conferences in Europe and America. Cutler has shared her knowledge with numerous artists, and published New Technologies in Glass in 2012. She initially trained in architectural glass before later completing a PhD at the University of Sunderland. Cutler currently works as a Principal Strategist in London.
