Mamaroneck, NY – The Bullseye New York Gallery presents a solo exhibition by former Bullseye resident artist Lauren Cotton. Cotton’s debut exhibition at the Bullseye New York Gallery will be on view January 17 – June 9, 2019.
Driven by the unexpected, Connecticut-based Lauren Cotton’s work combines vibrant color, expressive mark-making, and geometric patterns. In 2017, Cotton was an Artist-in-Residence at the Bullseye Resource Center in Mamaroneck, New York. During her residency she brought her exploratory practice to kiln-glass, creating a prolific number of highly patterned sheets of glass that were then cut, rearranged, and fused together. This process yielded bright and bold panels that, as Cotton explains, are “expressions of the self and what lies beneath.”
Lauren Cotton holds an MFA in Fibers and Fabric Design from Tyler School of Art and a BFA in Textile Design with a Photography Minor from Moore College and Art & Design. Cotton has had multiple solo exhibitions and projects at venues such as the Lillstreet Art Center Rooftop Project Space in Chicago, and the Delaware Center for the Contemporary in Wilmington. Cotton has been included in numerous group exhibitions, most recently at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, and Silvermine Art Center in New Canaan, Connecticut. She has been awarded several residencies, including the Santa Fe Institute, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Bullseye Resource Center New York. Cotton currently works as an independent studio artist as well as in collaboration with her partner, artist Dylan Cotton.
