Bullseye Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in COLLECT, Europe’s flagship fair for contemporary objects, May 14 – 17, 2010.
This year the gallery spotlights a group of artists who represent a ”glass bridge” between America and the UK. Each of these artists has taught, worked, or studied in the UK and the United States and represents the leading edge of contemporary studio glass. Their international accomplishments reflect the cooperation between Bullseye’s artist-driven US glass factory and British studio glass.
Bullseye will be presenting new work by Karen Akester (UK), Heike Brachlow (Germany/UK), Joseph Harrington (UK), Jeffrey Sarmiento (USA/UK), Catharine Newell (USA) and April Surgent (USA), all of whom have collaborated with Bullseye as teachers, lecturers, exhibiting artists and/or teaching assistants. In 2006, Akester participated in a residency at North Lands Creative Glass, a Scottish arts program with strong ties to Bullseye’s US factory. Brachlow and Harrington are both graduates of the Royal College of Art in London. Sarmiento, a Chicago artist, is currently on a 5-year fellowship at the University of Sunderland, UK. Newell and Surgent are both US artists who have lectured and studied in the UK.

Through its presentation of work from the best international applied artists, COLLECT has become a prestigious event in the international cultural calendar, gaining the respect and support of many private collectors, museum curators and galleries. 2010 will mark the fourth year that Bullseye Gallery has participated in COLLECT.
