Kathryn Wightman obtained a BA and an MA from the University of Sunderland. In 2011, she completed PhD research (also at the University of Sunderland) focusing on the development and application of creative printmaking processes for the decoration of blown glass. She recently relocated to New Zealand to teach at the Wanganui Glass School. Her current research can be seen as a development of her PhD work in kiln-formed glass. Having developed a strong visual aesthetic rooted in textiles and pattern design, Wightman integrates digital technologies and hand-based skills into her practice.
