Portland, OR –The Bullseye Connection Gallery presents Maurizio Donzelli’s Drawing Machine (“La Macchina Dei Disegni”) during two extraordinary performances at the Bullseye Annex on Tuesday, November 16, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and on Wednesday, November 17, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Bring your ideas to the Macchina! You supply an idea, a question, a statement, a scrap of poetry, whatever you desire. A technician will translate your words into Italian (the Macchina is built to Italian specifications and does not yet have English software) and insert your idea into the "IN" box on the Macchina. A gong will signal the arrival of a drawing based on your idea in the "OUT" box. Drawings will be immediately displayed and will be available for purchase. After the performance, the Macchina’s inventor Maurizio Donzelli will be available for questions and discussion of his amazing machine during an informal reception next door at The Bullseye Connection Gallery.
In the subsequent months, Donzelli will translate the resulting drawings into kilnformed glass works through participation in an artist exchange with Bullseye Glass Co. The exchange will culminate in a gallery exhibition at the Bullseye Connection Gallery on view from March 18 – April 23, 2005. A full-color catalog will document the exhibition and exchange.
Donzelli is a widely-recognized Italian artist who has exhibited and performed around the world. His work has been published in numerous exhibition catalogs.
